In 1936, Edward VIII abdicated in a surprise move, to marry his one true love, the commoner Wallis Simpson, who was already twice divorced. His brother George therefore became King quite suddenly, and struggled to find his way into the new, life-changing role as the English sovereign. This also included overcoming his fear to speak in public!
