Diana died in a tragic car accident in the Alma underpass in Paris on 30th August 1997 at just after midnight. Even now, speculation abounds as to what the cause of the accident was. What is known, is that the car was going too fast and none of passengers had their seat belts on. Diana's boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed and the driver Henri Paul died at the scene of the accident. Al Fayed's bodyguard survived with serious injuries. Lady Di died several hours after the accident in hospital as a result of severe internal injuries.
