T.R. Knight left the cast of "Grey's Anatomy" at the end of the fifth season, feeling that his character "Dr. George O'Malley" did not receive a sufficient amount of screen time. Since he and the series' writer and creator Shonda Rhimes kept locking horns on the issue, Knight was written out of the series and took his leave after five years.
